Sankalp Sharma, Ph.D
Dr. Sharma currently works as a Senior economist at Grain Farmers of Ontario and has been here since January 2022. His work involves analyzing policy changes impacting grain producers in Ontario.
Dr. Sharma holds a Ph.D in agricultural economics from University of Nebraska - Lincoln and Masters in Economics from North Carolina State University. He has worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization (United Nations, Rome, Italy), the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and Council of Social Development. His research includes work on risk analysis, crop insurance, grain markets and land acquisition policy.
He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been invited to present papers at the AAEA, CEA, IWREC and ICAE conferences, the annual Land and Poverty conference held at the World Bank, and other applied economics conferences. He has also been the recipient of research grants.
He has taught courses in - Introductory microeconomics, Introduction to business, agricultural finance, agricultural commodity marketing, farm management, advanced price analysis, international trade, quantitative economics, money and banking, crop/forage production management.
In his quiet time, he enjoys hiking, working out, watching Netflix and spending time with family and friends.
